Lawrence Hyman was born and raised in Washington, DC, but prefers to take photographs elsewhere. He studied architecture and art history at the University of Virginia and Boston University, but did not seriously turn to photography until he was quite sure that he'd never really be able to draw or paint. His [real] career has been largely spent as an exhibition manager, where he's organized museum exhibitions for the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service (1997-2007), the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (2007-2019), and the National Gallery of Art (2019-now). Although he is a Pisces with a Libra moon, he does not believe in astrology.
